Motherhood

You can read all the books, do all the research, go to prep classes and ask for advice from others, but nothing will truly prepare you for that moment when you baby is placed in your arms; that moment you become a parent. That moment you become someone who is responsible for this small little human.

Over these past 16 months, I have come to realize, what I'm doing may not be the "right" way (according to books, research, etc), but it works for us and our family. Everything from what to feed your child to bedtime routines; every child and every family is different.

I have come to realize that motherhood is all about trusting your instincts. Trust that feeling you have inside; its probably right. And if it doesn't work out, well then you have learned from that and can try something else the next time.

Take it one day at a time.

Motherhood changes you.
It changes the way you think, the way you act, the way you feel.
It teaches love and patience,
and that you can function on very little sleep and going to bed at 9pm on a Friday night is a wonderful thing!

Motherhood is...
...taking the time for one more hug and kiss, even if it means you'll be late.
... once again believing in the things you did as a child.
...realizing true happiness doesn't come from material wealth.
...sharing EVERYTHING!
...realizing showering is a luxury.
...loving life more.

There is no fancy secret to being a good mom. Nothing more than loving and caring for your child.

Being a parent is a 24/7/365 job; the toughest yet most rewarding job there is. But its one I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.
